How we handle Citroën servicing and repairs at Hackbridge
Identification comes first, and it takes longer than people expect. We record the VIN and build date, check which interval currently applies to that engine rather than the one printed when the car was new, and look at what has actually been done in the history against what should have been. If the car is young enough that a manufacturer action or goodwill contribution might apply, we say so and send you to a franchise to ask, because that work is free there and we would rather you had it free than paid us for it.
On oil-bathed belt engines we do one thing routinely that a lot of garages skip: we cut the old oil filter open. The pleats are spread out under a light and checked for the fine black rubber particles that a degrading belt sheds, and the sump strainer is inspected where access allows. You get shown whatever we find. If there is debris in there, topping the engine up with fresh oil and handing the keys back is not a repair, and we will set out what the engine actually needs instead.
There is work we turn away. We do not fit AdBlue emulators, write delete software or blank off emissions equipment, and we will not clear a countdown warning and send you off without finding the part that caused it, because the countdown simply restarts. Where a job has a genuine and an equivalent option, both go on the quote with the difference explained, so the choice is yours rather than ours. Where a price depends on what we find once the engine is open, the quote carries that as a separate, clearly stated line.
