Keeping a newer Citroën's warranty and records right in Cheam
A lot of owners around Cheam station and the village assume a newer car has to go back to a franchised dealer to keep its warranty. That is not the case. Under the Block Exemption rules, servicing by an independent garage to Citroën's schedule, using parts of matching quality and recording the work, keeps the manufacturer warranty valid. Warranty repairs and recalls are still done free by a Citroën dealer, and if something we find looks like one of those, we will say so.
What we add is attention to the engines' known habits. On a 1.2 PureTech we check oil consumption as well as level, because some of these engines use more than they should, and we gauge the belt against the latest interval for your engine code. A C5 Aircross that mainly shuttles between North Cheam and the village is doing exactly the short-trip work that ages oil fastest. Fuel and moisture collect in the oil when the engine rarely gets fully warm, and that is not good for a belt that runs in it.
The North Cheam crossroads, where the A24 meets Malden Road, is a good example. Supermarket and drive-through traffic means long idling and short hops, which is hard on a BlueHDi's diesel particulate filter. Diesels that also get a regular run down the A217 towards Belmont regenerate much more happily. If yours never does, we will check the DPF soot loading and talk through honestly if your pattern of driving suits a diesel at all. Sometimes a longer run every couple of weeks is enough, and sometimes it is not.
You get a written quote before any work outside the service, and we stamp the book or provide a detailed invoice for the digital record. Cars from the conservation area streets near the village are often parked on narrow roads, so collection and delivery can be arranged if bringing the car to us is awkward. The drive is around 12 minutes along the A232, and most services are ready the same day.
