City Citroëns on Tooting's terraces and the ULEZ question
In the Totterdown Fields estate and the terraces around Tooting Broadway station, parking is tight and cars are small. Plenty of the Citroëns there are C1s and C3s, which suit the streets well. The newer C3s mostly have the 1.2 PureTech, and because many of them are used for short hops rather than long runs, oil condition and the wet timing belt are the priorities at a service. We gauge the belt, check the oil and record any consumption so you can see how the engine is behaving over time.
Tooting is inside the ULEZ, and for owners of older Citroën diesels the question is often whether a repair is worth doing at all. A pre-Euro 6 HDi that is driven daily in London pays the charge each day. A BlueHDi that meets Euro 6 does not, but relies on a working AdBlue system to stay legal and running. We will give you a written quote and a straight view on the car's condition, and leave the decision to you.
The drive up Trinity Road towards Wandsworth, or along the A24 through Tooting Broadway, is slow and bus-heavy for much of the day. For an EGS or ETG automated gearbox, that means constant clutch engagements in traffic, and wear shows as a jerky pull-away. For a diesel, it means little chance for the particulate filter to regenerate. Both are things we check when a Tooting car comes in, reading gearbox clutch values and DPF soot levels with dealer-level diagnostic equipment.
Given the distance and the controlled parking around Tooting Broadway, collection and delivery can be arranged so the car goes from your street to us and back. Repairs carry our 3-month workmanship warranty. If you prefer to drive, the route runs along Mitcham Road past the Granada, through Mitcham and down Carshalton Road to Hackbridge.
