Wet roads by Norbury Brook and the Fiat's electrics
Norbury Brook, the River Graveney, can rise quickly after heavy rain, and the low-lying roads near it and around Norwood Grove and the edge of Streatham Common can hold standing water. Small Fiats like the 500 and Panda sit low, and their air intakes and underbody connectors are not far off the road. Driving through deep water risks the engine drawing it in, which can lock the engine, while water around connectors can bring up electrical faults days later.
If you have driven through standing water and the car now has warning lights, odd behaviour or a damp smell, we scan every module, check the air intake and filter, and look at low-mounted wiring and connectors. On Punto and Panda models, the electric power steering is sensitive to voltage, and a charging or earth fault after water exposure can show as heavy steering. We find the cause before replacing anything and explain it in a written quote.
Everyday driving in Norbury is mostly short trips on 20mph side roads, with Norbury Avenue busy at school and station times. That gentle mileage keeps many Fiats looking young, but the 1.2 Fire timing belt has an age limit, and TwinAir and MultiAir engines need their oil changed annually whatever the mileage. We check both carefully, along with Dualogic fluid and operation where fitted, and nothing extra is done without your approval.
Because the drive to Hackbridge runs down the A23 to Thornton Heath Pond and across Mitcham Common, collection and delivery can be arranged so you do not lose a morning. Repairs carry our 3-month workmanship warranty. If you prefer to drop off, allow extra time for the Pond and Lombard roundabouts at peak times, and we will have the car ready the same day for most services. We will call you with anything we find before any extra work is done.
