School-run streets, Wallington Green and a switched-off ABS
Wallington's school-run traffic is heavy. The grammar schools and local primaries mean parents parking on nearby residential roads at drop-off and pick-up, with children crossing between cars. Those are exactly the streets where you may need to stop suddenly. ABS keeps the wheels from locking so you can brake hard and still steer, and stability control keeps the car straight. If the ABS light is on, both are off, and in the wet that can make a real difference.
The A232 Croydon Road and Acre Lane crossing at Wallington Green queue at peak times, and stop-start driving means more brake work over the years. Every pad or disc change is a chance for a sensor to be disturbed, and a sensor that's corroded in the hub can crack when it's moved. Around Wallington Town Hall and the town centre, tight parking and kerbs add knocks to wheels and hubs. On newer family SUVs, a failed sensor can also turn off hill-hold and auto-hold, which is often what drivers notice first, before they connect it with the ABS light.
We read the ABS module to find the wheel and fault type, compare live wheel speeds and test the sensor, wiring and connector. We also check the reluctor ring or bearing encoder, and the bearing for play. You get a written quote explaining the cause, and we fit OE or OE-equivalent parts. After the repair, we clear the codes, run any calibration the car needs and road test it to confirm all four wheel speeds match.
Being so close, you can drop the car off and walk home, or wait for many sensor jobs. From the town centre it's Woodcote Road north, Manor Road across the A232 at Wallington Green, then London Road to Hackbridge, about 1.7 miles. Collection is available if you'd prefer. Our 3-month workmanship warranty covers the repair.
