Beddington Lane lorries, run-flats and the Croydon Road crawl
Plenty of BMW owners in Beddington split their driving between two very different roads. Beddington Lane carries skip lorries, recycling trucks and vans to the industrial estates and the energy recovery facility, and roads like that are where tyres pick up screws and sharp debris. On a BMW with run-flats and no spare, a slow puncture matters more than usual, because a run-flat driven too far while deflated usually cannot be repaired. We check tread depth, sidewalls and pressures at every service and tell you plainly when a tyre is nearing the end of its life.
The other half of the picture is Croydon Road. The A232 queues at peak times towards the Purley Way junction, and short, slow runs like that wear front brake pads faster than the mileage suggests. BMW pad wear sensors bring up a warning as the pads approach the limit; we replace the sensor with the pads and reset the brake CBS item so the dashboard reads correctly afterwards. Slow traffic also means the engine rarely gets properly warm, which is why we often suggest an interim oil change for cars that mostly shuttle between home, the station and the shops.
A typical visit starts with a full scan so we can see every CBS item the car is asking for, then the service itself, with Castrol oil carrying the approval your engine needs. While the car is on the ramp we look along the underside for the oil filter housing and rocker cover leaks that BMW engines are known for, and check the front arms and bushes. If anything needs doing we explain it and put a written quote in front of you, and nothing is added without your say-so.
Getting to us takes very little planning: out of the village along Church Road, west on Croydon Road past Beddington Park, then north up London Road from Wallington Green. It is around six minutes, close enough that many people simply walk home and come back later, although we can collect the car if that suits you better. Repairs carry our 3-month workmanship warranty.
