Controlled parking, station bays and kerbed alloys in Sutton
Sutton Council runs a Sutton Town Centre Controlled Parking Zone, so on-street parking near the centre needs a permit or payment, and spaces are prized. When you find one, it's often a tight parallel space against a high kerb, and the pressure to get in quickly with traffic waiting behind is exactly when a rear wheel gets scraped. The streets around Sutton station and the Royal Marsden are busy with commuters, staff and visitors, adding to the squeeze. Short stays at the kerb near the High Street, with a queue forming behind, are much the same.
Out on the A217 by-pass, Reigate Avenue and Oldfields Road move quickly, but their junctions get busy at peak times, and low-speed turns at the roundabouts and slip roads catch wheels too. Brake dust from the stop-start town-centre one-way system builds up on the spokes and barrels. Left on, it stains and eats into the finish. A car with scuffed rims and pitted spokes looks older than it is, and the damage keeps spreading. Residential streets near the centre are tightly parked too, and school-run traffic adds to the pressure at drop-off and pick-up.
We inspect each wheel for cracks and buckles, identify the finish and give you a written price per wheel. Kerb rash on a painted or powder coated wheel is often repaired cosmetically in a day. Diamond cut wheels with corrosion under the lacquer are stripped, re-cut on a lathe and relacquered, and heavily damaged painted wheels are stripped and powder coated. Tyre pressure sensors are removed and refitted, and every wheel is balanced before it goes back on.
From Sutton town centre, it's a short drive east along Carshalton Road and north through Hackbridge. For a full set, which usually takes 2–3 days, collection and delivery can be arranged. The work carries our 3-month workmanship warranty. If the tyres are due, we can fit new ones at the same time, as they're coming off anyway.
